Founded in 1986 by South African artist Andre van Niekerk[1] Feathers of Knysna is a producer of wooden artwork in the form of South African wildlife.[2]
Feathers of Knysna is located in the town of Knysna within the Cape Province.[3] It has become a popular tourist attraction within the town appearing on many Garden Route tours.[4]
The business has been approached to make special edition pieces for presentation to dignitaries including South African President Thabo Mbeki, Deputy President Jacob Zuma and Princess Irene of the Netherlands.[5]
Since migrating to Australia in 2001, Andre van Niekerk has established an artistic business in Byron Bay,[6] named Feathers of Australia.[7] The art produced is described as the cutting edge of design and artistic innovation.[7] The business has since moved to Perth, Western Australia [8] Andre van Niekerk has also exhibited in England, Ireland, Holland and America.[9]
